A Conspiracy of Ravens

There were 6 hanging around the buoys this morning but a couple turned out to be camera shy.
You might have to click on this one to make it big enough to see our new tech.

This week I'm in Hay River working on the automatic weather systems on 2 buoys and 2 Coast Guard ships. These pics were taken as the Dumit was being moved by the Kakisa, a tug boat, to the warf in front of the Eckaloo. It was really interesting to watch. I think they've done that before.

This blog might get a lot more interesting this summer. If everything works out the way it's supposed to I'll be an apprentice met inspector so I will get to see all of prairie northern region rather than just Alert, Eureka and Stony. Yay! Technology and adventure together!

Neat Science Stuff

There is currently a group of people on station testing equipment for a trek to the north pole. The reason they are going is to measure the ice up here. A couple of nights ago they took the time to explain to the staff exactly what they're trying to do. This is right on the cutting edge of studying the polar ice cap. Anyone who is interested in the arctic should check out their web page.
